Abilene campers bring home honors


Eleven cheerleaders of the 16 at Crockett Middle School
attended a National Cheerleaders Association Cheerleading
Camp, June 29-July 3 in Abilene. The group brought home
several honors including the Most Spirited Team Award, four
Superior Ribbons, two Outstanding and Excellent ribbons, the
Spirit Stick and the Grand Champion Chant Trophy which is
proudly displayed at the middle school.

The group also won the Herkie Team Award, an award given out
based on leadership, values and teamwork and sponsored by
NCA. This was an optional cheerleading camp for the group
with another one scheduled for Aug. 6-9, at Sul Ross State
University with all 16 cheerleaders attending.

Those who attended the camp in Abilene include Jesenia
Natividad, Easter Gomez, Lara Weinacht, Amanda Fleming,
Chyloe Martin, Rebecca Reynolds, Taryn McNeil, Kristian
Aguilar, Dena Dutchover, Rachel Rubio and Danielle Avila.
