Golden Girl nominee

Linsey Shea Hathorn is the 17-year-old daughter of Douglas
and Beverly Hathorn.

She is sponsored by Reeves County Sheriff's Posse, John
Griffis Diesel Service and Colt-Chevrolet Buick Inc.

Miss Hathorn was a member of the Lady Eagles Varsity
Volleyball Team and played basketball and track. She was a
member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta and was
named Who's Who Among American High School Students.

She was a member of the Pecos High School Student Council.

The Golden Girl nominee enjoys singing, riding horses,
playing sports and being involved in the community.

She has served on the Youth Advisory Commission for two
years, the Church of Christ Youth Group and the 4-H Club.
She was the 1995 West Texas Trailriders Sweetheart and
received the Outstanding Student Award in Spanish I during
the 1995-96 school year.

Miss Hathorn plans to go into elementary education after
graduation from high school.

Pecosites named to Dean's list


Texas A&M University has named its honor students for the
1998 spring semester, recognizing several thousand students
for outstanding academic performance.

The Dean's Honor Roll recognizes students taking at least 15
semester hours who have maintained at least a 3.75 grade
point ratio (GPR) out of a possible 4.0 during the most
recent grading period.

A second designation, "Distinguished Student," recognizes
students who earned a 3.25 to 3.75 GPR while taking at least
15 hours.

Among those recognized on the Dean's List from Pecos were:
Daniel V. Tarin, Elizabeth Montgomery and Mikel Forrest
Parent.

Marruffo named officer of month


Daniel Marruffo has been selected as Correctional Officer
for the Month of May.

Marruffo has been employed at the Reeves County Detention
Center since July 24, 1995.

His job consists of being responsible for the custody and
control of all inmates within his duty station and is
required to perform other duties which are critical to the
security of the institution.

He has been assigned as perimeter officer and his job
consists of patrolling the perimeter of the institution.

Marruffo is married to Norma Marruffo.

"He is a very dedicated, responsible and hard working
individual and has been an asset to the Reeves County
Detention Centerm," said RCDC Warden Rudy Franco.
