Golden Girl nominee

Alva Alvarez is the 17-year-old daughter of Al and Luz
Alvarez.
She is sponsored by Bill and Marina Weinacht and the West of
the Pecos Museum.
Miss Alvarez is a member of the Pecos High School Student
Council, Latin club, Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society
and was named to Who's Who Among American High School
Students. She was a HOBY representative, she represented
Pecos at the the El Paso Leadership Conference and was then
chosen to represent the far West Texas Region in
Indianapolis, Ind., at WLC, World Leadership Congress in
July 1997. She is also a member of the Pecos High Golf Team,
Pecos Youth Advisory Commision and the St. Catherine's
Catholic Church Youth Group.
As a member of the student council she was vice-president.
The Golden Girl nominee enjoys spending time with friends
and family because she stated, "the memories one makes are
priceless. Golf is my passion."
She also enjoys dancing, reading, meeting new people and
making new friends, learning new things and surfing the net.
"I believe that one should always `dream the impossible
dream,' and live life with no regrets. You only have a
small, very special time on this earth, so make the most of
it," said Alvarez.
