Navarrete, Quiroz plan June wedding


Mr. and Mrs. Emilio Navarette, of Odessa, announce the
engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter,
Ramona A. Navarette to Cruz Quiroz, Jr.

The future groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Cruz Quiroz, Sr.
of Barstow. He is a 1992 graduate of Pecos High School, is
currently attending Odessa College and is employed with
Petroplex Acidizing, Inc. in Odessa.

The bride to be is a 1989 graduate of Odessa High School,
graduated from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin
and is a teacher with the Ector County School District.

The couple plan to wed at 11 a.m., June 13, at St. Joseph's
Catholic Church in Odessa.

They plan to reside in Odessa following the wedding ceremony.

Licon joins delayed program


Deena R. Licon has joined the United States Army under the
Delayed Entry Program at the U.S. Army Recruiting Station in
Odessa.

The program gives young men and women the opportunity to
delay entering active dury for up to one year.

The enlistment gives the new soldier the option to learn a
new skill, travel and become eligible to receive as much as
$40,000 toward a college education. After completion of
basic training, soldiers receive advanced individual
training in their career specialty.

Licon, a student at Pecos High School, will report to Fort
Jackson, Columbia, S.C., for basic training on Aug. 27.

She is the daughter of Apolonia P. Rodriguez of Pecos.

Pecos students earn degrees


More than 2,000 students at Texas Tech University received
degrees during 1998 spring commencement exercises.

Graduating students included the following from Pecos:
Jennifer Susann Armstrong, communication studies, bachelor
of arts degree; Damon Eugene Dade, finance, bachelor of
business administration; Janice Christine Lee, zoology,
bachelor of science degree; Jason Glenn Thomasson, exercise
and sports sciences, bachelor of science degree and Julie
Elizabeth Wyles, general studies, bachelor of general
studies degree.
