Carrasco ends basic training


Monica Carrasco, of Pecos, completed basic training with the
U.S. Navy on April 10 and completed seaman apprentice school
in Chicago.

She will be stationed in San Diego, Calif.

Carrasco is the daughter of Ruben and Yolanda Carrasco of
Pecos.

She is the granddaughter of B.R. Rodriguez of Pecos and has
one sister, Ruby, and two brothers, Lorenzo and Ruben
Carrasco all of Pecos.

Special guests at meeting


Sheree L. Custred, associate psychologist at the West Texas
State School, and Mary Taggart, assistant superintendent at
WTSS were recent guests of Pecos Business and Professional
Women's Club. Custred spoke of the work they are doing with
the students at WTSS.

Renea Rasberry, Belinda Heard, Maribel Pena, Laura Marquez
and Kimberly Sue Clark, BPW scholarship candidates were also
guests. Each candidate gave a brief resume on school and
extra curricular activities and told which
college/university they plan to attend.

Guests at the meeting included Maribel Pena, Sheree L.
Custred, Mary Taggart and Renea Rasberry. Also, Laura
Marquez, Kimberly Sue Clark and Belinda Heard.
