Family revival planned at local Baptist church

"Reaching the family NOW" will be theme for a revival
scheduled for May 14-17 at Primera Iglesia Bautista, located
at 8th and Sycamore Streets.

Revival meetings are set for 7 p.m. each day beginning this
Thursday, and concluding on Sunday evening. Sunday School
remains the scheduled - 9:45 a.m., with the evangelistic
sermon to be delivered at 10:55 a.m.

Guest evangelist will be the Rev. Carlos Navarro Sr. of
Brownsville. With a special theme like "Reaching the Family
NOW," he will be speaking "on the family" and "to the
family" all four days. Leading the singing each night will
be Jaime Herrera, song director at Primera. Other local
church members plan to provide special music as well.

The Rev. Navarro has been serving as pastor of West
Brownsville Baptist Church since 1993. Prior to that, he
pastored in Stockton, Calif. from 1985 through 1990, and
served as a missionary in El Salvador, Central America from
1990 through 1993 under the Southern Baptist Mission Board.
Navarro and his wife, Diana, have two children, Carlos Jr.
10 and Diego, seven.

"Parents and teenagers, the whole family for that matter,
need to come together and receive God's message, especialy
after hearing about all the gang-related problems in Pecos.
We need to hear what God has to say," said a church
spokesperson.

"Youth Night" is scheduled for Friday, and "Children's
Night" has been set for Saturday. The message on Friday will
be geared toward the young people, but everyone in the
family should plan to be present. A nursery will be provided
free of charge.

"Brother Navarro is a very dynamic preacher and will bless
your heart," said Rev. Paul Garcia, pastor at Primera.
"Everyone in the community is invited to attend," he said.
