Carullos tell of new son


Heather and Ed Carullo are proud to announce the arrival of
their firstborn, a son, named Tyler Reece Carullo.

Little Tyler was born on May 4, at 11:18 a.m. at San Diego
Naval Medical Center, San Deigo, Calif.

He weighed eight pounds, eight ounces and was 20 inches
long at birth.

Maternal grandparents are Dick and Sherry Hamilton of Pecos,
and Randy Minton of San Angelo.

Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Don Carullo of Staten
Island, N.Y.

Maternal uncles are Asa Hamilton of Pecos and Justin Minton
of San Angelo.

Greer graduates from WTC


Pecos native, Leslie Greer was among 58 students who
recently graduated from Western Texas College in Snyder.

A traditional outdoor graduation ceremony for WTC's
sophomore class was held Friday, May 6, featuring three
speakers from among the 1998 student graduates. Addressing
their classmates with the theme "Choices, Challenges and
Champions" was Chelci Beaird, Celestine Akinyi. Otuoro and
Jennifer Shuttlesworth.

All three are honor graduates and have been active in
various areas of the campus to include membership in Phi
Theta Kappa, the college's honorary society.

Following the student addresses, Faculty Association
President David Kattes offered the faculty response.
Graduation ceremonies began at 7:30 p.m. in the central
courtyard and a reception followed in the Student Center.

Among the 58 students graduates, 32 received an Associate in
Arts Degree; 20 an Associate in Applied Science Degree; and
six a Certificate of Technology.

WTC President Harry Krenek offered the welcome and
introductions as well as a special recognition and the
event's closing remarks. The degrees and certificates were
awarded by Vice President Bettie McQueen, assisted by WTC
Board President Jay Kidd.

The invocation was given by Rev. Nan Swanson, pastor of
First Presbyterian Church; and the benediction by Dr. Darold
Baldwin.

Both processional and recessional music was played on the
Sears Carillon by Lynn Bethel.

Four generations gather


Four generations from one family gathered for Mother's Day.
Pictured are Juanita Granado and daughter, Olga Granado, of
Midland. Michelle Read and Brittany Read, granddaughter and
great-granddaughter, of San Angelo. The family gathered in
Pecos to celebrate Mother's Day together.
