Balmorhea places in academic meet

Balmorhea's number sense contestants placed at a UIL Academic Meet in
Presidio recently.

The fourth grade number sense team brought home second and fifth, with
Jamie Gallego placing second, and Orlando Sanchez placing fifth.

The fifth grade number sense team took first, second, and fourth, with
Jo Gina Gallego taking first, James Tarin taking second, and Lorissa
Rodriguez placing fourth. Alternate Ismael Rodriguez placed third, but
did not count since he too was an alternate.

Sixth grade number sense, John Keeper placed second. Area schools that
participated were Van Horn, Marathon, Marfa, Presidio, Valentine, San
Vincente, Fort Davis and Balmorhea.

Balmorhea number sense coach Lee Renz stated that his teams are already
looking forward to next year's competition.

Those who competed at this meet include, Robbie Mendoza, Alexis Lozano,
Jamie Gallego, Orlando Sanchez, Santana Lopez, Keith Baeza, Sabrina
Lopez and John Keeper. Also, James Tarin, Monica Carrasco, Peter Quiroz,
Lorissa Rodriguez, Michael Rodriguez, Amanda Orozco, Ismael Rodriguez,
Jo Gina Gallego and Levon Barragan.
