Texas Heritage Chairman Laura Teal showed a film on Pecos
Bill, which was narrated by Robin Williams, to Modern Study
Club members at their March 11 meeting held at the West of
the Pecos Museum. Members also had the opportunity to tour
the Pecos Bill Room. Sixteen members were present.

President Joyce Morton presided. Iris Reddick led the club
collect and the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of the
United States of America was led by Phyllis Stool, as
members repeated each in unison.

Catherine Travland, secretary, read the minutes of the
previous meeting and Juracy McCall, treasurer, reported no
activity in the club account since the last report.

Modern Study Club members voted to send funds for gifts for
both Barbara Saunders, outgoing Western District President,

Jr.

Nan Cate and Phyllis Stool, constitution and by-laws
chairmen, reported they would have an up-date to our
constitution and by-laws ready for reading and approval at
the next meeting.

Phyllis Stool, Federation chairman, reminded members of
their donations for the SMILE project. Stool said that in
addition to a video she plans to show, Dr. Cerna will be
present to tell of his work in the Phillipines. Three of his
girls will sing for the club.

Hazel Bamore, ways and means chairman, is working on having
a bake sale and announced the date is set for April 3 at the
Security State Bank lobby.

Etta Sullivan, chairman of the nominating committee,
announced that the slate of officers for 1998-2000 was still
incomplete but should be completed soon.

It was announced that donations for M.D. Anderson Cancer
Research Center are still being collected and may be given
to Joyce Morton.

Hostesses for the meeting were Juracy McCall, Kay Taylor and
