Pecos ousted from LL, JL tourney play
Pecos' Little League baseball All-Star team ended up spending more time
on the field in San Angelo on Saturday than they wanted to after a lot of
time waiting around, and ended up on the wrong end of a pair scores against
San Angelo Lake View and San Angelo Northern.
Lake View broke open a 2-2 game with a pair of big innings late against
Pecos on Saturday afternoon, and scored a 12-2 victory over the 11-12 year
olds. That game was delayed four hours due to rain the previous night in
San Angelo, and with the loss, the Little Leaguers ended up playing in another
game on Saturday, at 8 p.m., and ended up being eliminated by San Angelo
Northern, by a 6-5 final score.
Northern scored the winning run in the sixth inning off pitcher Lucas
Chavez, who had shut out San Angelo Western, 6-0, in the tournament opener
for Pecos the previous weekend. In the loss to Lake View, San Angelo would
score 10 times in the fifth and sixth innings to break things open. Timo
Reyes took the loss for Pecos.
Pecos' Junior League All-Stars also were eliminated from their District
4 Tournament over the holiday weekend. The 13-14 year olds, who dropped
their opener to Western by a 16-4 score, were beaten in the second game
of their double elimination tournament by Lake View, 8-3.
