Reyes selected Employee of the Month

Steve Reyes has been selected as Employee of the Month at the Reeves County Detention Center for the month of May.

Reyes is a Recreation Specialist II at the RCDC-I.

He is married to Susan Reyes and is the father of three children, Steve Jr., Chris and the late Cristina Natividad. He is a former member of the Evening Optimist Club and the Pecos Little League.

Reyes' hobbies include fishing, but his main interest is spending time with his grandkids.

He began his career with the Reeves County Detention Center in February 2001. He was promoted in November 2001, to his current rank of Recreation Specialist II.

Reyes is a veteran officer who has proven himself to be both extremely reliable and professional. His work ethics and attitude are of the highest level and he is a prime example of the officers employed at the Reeves County Detention Center, according to RCDC Warden Rudy Franco.

"I enjoy my job," said Reyes. "I've learned a lot in the Rec. Yard, but there's still more to learn. I haven't learned everything that I want to learn, but I'm getting there," he said.

Officer Reyes is dedicated to the operation of the Reeves County Detention Center.

"He is very creative and has given the Rec. Yard a difference appearance," said Franco. "This new appearance benefits all staff as it calms and maintains serenity in the inmates. He accepts additional responsibilities and accomplishes all assigned tasks in minimal time," he said.

As a Recreation Specialist, Reyes' primary responsibilities are to maintain security and control in the Recreation Department, making sure the inmates are conducting their recreational activities in a safe manner, and in general always keeping an eye out for anything that might hinder the program.

Officer Reyes has continuously executed his responsibilities in the highest professional manner, and has always taken pride as an officer of the Reeves County Detention Center, according to Franco.

The Reeves County Detention Center and the Recreation Department is proud to recognize Recreation Specialist II, Reyes as May's Employee of the Month.

"His high standards, quality of work performance, and self-motivation have earned him this honor. We wish him continued success in his career with the Recreation Department and the Reeves County Detention Center," said Franco.
