Rodriguez deployed to Iraq
Specialist Samuel Rodriguez, serving in the U.S. Army, 1st
Armored Division, is being deployed today to Iraq.
Rodriguez had been stationed in Germany and has been in the Army for
six years.
He is the son of Norma and Al Wentworth of Pecos.
Rodriguez and his wife Angelica, have one son, Little Samuel and are
expecting another baby in September.
Memorial law scholarship offered
The Permian Basin Area Foundation is announcing that a scholarship will
be awarded from the Judge Lucius Bunton Memorial Law Scholarship Fund for
the Fall 2003 semester to a student currently accepted or enrolled in an
accredited law school in the United States. All applications will be considered
regardless of financial status.
Applicants must be a resident of one of the following counties upon his
or her high school graduation: Andrews, Brewster, Crane, Crockett, Culberson,
Dawson, Ector, Gaines, Glasscock, Howard, Hudspeth, Jeff Davis, Loving,
Martin, Midland, Pecos, Presidio, Reagan, Reeves, Sterling, Upton, Ward,
and Winkler. Preference will be given to a student who was born and raised
in one of these counties.
Applications are available through the financial aid offices of Texas
law schools. Completed applications must be mailed to the Permian Basin
Area Foundation postmarked no later than May 30.
