Military institute holds open house
The New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, N.M., will hold its annual
open house on Saturday, March 29. Rated by STAMATS Marketing, Inc. as the
best educational values in New Mexico, the Institute holds open house to
acquaint those who may be interested in attending with the educational opportunities
that exist at this 112-year-old institution of higher learning.
The Institute also prides itself in its character development program.
With a developmental process that teaches self-discipline, students are actively
taught leadership skills, the value of community service and life-long physical
conditioning habits.
With both a Junior and Senior ROTC Program, the Institute also offers
those students who are interested in pursuing a military career or a Service
academy appointment an opportunity to do so. Each year the Institute sends
over 100 students to the national Service academies and Commissions Officers
into the U.S. Army Reserve and National Guard.

Study club plans meeting
The Modern Study Club will meet at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 26, in the
parlor of the First Christian Church, 423 S. Elm, for an International Affairs
Department Program entitled, "International Festival," with Nan Cate, chairman
of the department, in charge.
The thought-quote for the meeting is _ "Laughter is the sun that drives
the winter from the human face" _ Victor Hugo. Members will present the country
they choose to study for the year through costumes, foods and any outstanding
fact they wish to convey to the rest of the group.
Roll call will be answered by giving "my ethnic heritage."
Project for the bi-monthly meeting is to contribute to the Reeves County
Library.
Serving as hostesses will be Etta Sullivan, Paula Fuller and Doris Moorman.
Each club member will bring a dish appropriate to the country she represents.
