Patino celebrates first birthday with party

Santiago S. Patino celebrated his first birthday on Jan. 4 with a party held in his honor at the Reeves County Sheriff's Posse Barn, which included a dance.

He was born Jan. 5, 2002.

Theme for the special event was "Looney Tunes" and he received many gifts.

Santiago is the son of Sergio and Valeria Patino.

Maternal grandparents are E.C. and Socorro Lazcano.

Paternal grandparents are Simon and Graciela Patino and great-grandmother is Mary Patino, all of Pecos.

He was joined in the celebration by his uncle and aunt, Ernesto and Rose Ann Lazcano and aunt Jessica Patino and many uncles, aunts and friends.

Carrasco named Officer of the Year at RCDC

The Reeves County Detention Center is proud to announce that Angel Carrasco has been selected as Officer of the Year.

Carrasco is a 1986 graduate of Pecos High School and his hobbies include learning about electronics, working with stereo systems and computers. He also likes to work around the house, teaching his son how to be a welder.

Officer Carrasco has 60 college hours and wants to return back to school to receive his associate for advance electronic technician.

He began his employment with the Reeves County Detention Center on May 3, 2001, and was promoted to Correctional Officer II on March 16, 2002. On July 6, 2002, Carrasco advanced to Correctional Officer III, and on Sept. 28, 2002, he was promoted to the maintenance department.

Officer Carrasco's willingness to accept additional responsibilities and his determination to succeed has earned him this award.

"Carrasco performs his duties with exceptional results," said RCDC Warden Rudy Franco. "He was awarded Correctional Officer of the Month for 2002," he said.

During the past year, Officer Carrasco has given his all to become the best that he could be and that is why he has earned these promotions, according to Franco.

"Mr. Carrasco is always willing to assist wherever needed and takes pride in accomplishing his duties in a professional manner," said Franco. "His dedication to the Reeves County Detention Center is outstanding," he said.

"It is a pleasure to be associated with an individual such as Officer Carrasco, who exhibits such professionalism," said Franco. "We wish him continued success in his career with the Reeves County Detention Center," he said.
