Local V.F.W. holds special presentation
A special meeting was held on Dec. 9, at Speedy's Restaurant, by local
Baker Curtis V.F.W. Post 6437, to honor several people.
Odessa V.F.W. Post 4372 members were on hand to present awards to the
following local individuals for their volunteer service: Shirley Hannah,
Steven C. Pineda, Mac Arthur B. Pineda, J.T. Marsh, W.L. Cooper and James
Garcia.
A special award was then presented by Commander Earl Bauman, of Odessa,
to Roger Jones, of Pecos, for his thousands of dollars of donations of cantaloupes
to the area hospitals and nursing homes and his 10 years of service.
Accepting the award for Jones, who was unable to attend, was Steven C.
Pineda. Salvador Guerrero, past V.F.W. Dist. 25 Commander, presented the
other awards.
Honorees included: Roger Jones for community service award plaque; J.T.
Marsh, community service certificate; Dora Pineda, homeless veterans program
certificate; Shirley Hannah for community support of veterans activities
certificate and Steven Pineda for community service certificate.
In attendance were Dora Pineda, Commander Post 6437; Mac Arthur Pineda,
Steven Pineda, Post 6437 community volunteer; Salvador Guerrero, past District
25 commander; J.T. Profit, Honor Guard past 4372; Honor Guard post 4372;
Fritz Graverholz, Honor Guard post 4372; Lee Harris, Honor Guard post 4372;
Lee Nixon, Honor Guard post 4372; James Hicks, Honor Guard post 4372; Earl
Baumann, Commander post 4372; Andy Hannah, Quarter Master Post 6437; Shirley
Hannah, Ladies Auxiliary post 6437; J.T. Marsh, Pecos, Judge and David Bennett,
District 25 Adjutant.
