Garden club has Christmas party, helps food bank
The Merry Home and Garden Club met recently for their
annual Christmas party at St. Mark's Parish Hall.
Christmas cards were exchanged among members and canned
goods were collected for the Santa Rosa Food Bank.
Elizabeth Schmidt showed everyone how to make a
snowman out of tube socks and birdseed. She explained that "On
Christmas morning, the snowman should be opened by simply untying his
"hat," and the birdseed scattered
outside for the wild birds to enjoy."
The Merry Home and Garden Club was organized Nov. 17, 1930. In
recent years, the club has continued to support the Pecos Tree Board and
the West of the Pecos Museum through the annual sale of fruitcakes made
at the Collin Street Bakery in Corsicana.
