Marquez selected as officer of month

Officer Abelardo Marquez has been selected as Correctional Officer of the Month at the Reeves County Detention Center I for November.

Officer Marquez has been living in Pecos for approximately two years. He is a graduate of Marfa High School, in Marfa and has one son, Zaine, who is two years old.

His hobbies include working on his vehicle and just spending quality time with his son.

Officer Marquez' work experience includes as Chief Jailer for the Presidio County Jail for about two years and working for the Presidio Port of Entry.

Marquez began his employment with the Reeves County Detention Center on Sept. 25, 2000, and was promoted on Sept. 28, 2001 to Correctional Officer III.

He has worked all pertinent posts and is dedicated to the operation of the Reeves County Detention Center, according to RCDC Warden Rudy Franco.

"Officer Marquez willingly accepts additional responsibilities and accomplishes all assigned tasks in minimal time with exceptional results," said Franco.

As a Correctional Officer, his primary responsibility is to maintain security and control of the institution. "Officer Marquez has continuously executed this responsibility in the highest manner and always takes pride in his job as a correctional officer at the Reeves County Detention Center," said Franco.

The Reeves County Detention Center is proud to recognize Officer Marquez as Correctional Officer of the Month.

"His high standards, quality of work performance, and self-motivation have earned him this honor," said Franco. "It is a pleasure to be associated with an individual such as Officer Marquez who exhibits such professionalism," he said.

"We wish him continued success in his career with the Reeves  County Detention Center," said Franco.
