Pecos 9-10 LLers stay alive after opening round defeat
The Pecos 9-10 year old Little League All-Stars made it to the Championship
Round of the District 4 Little League Tournament, though they had to do
it through the elimination bracket of the area tournament over the weekend
in Wall.
Pecos suffered a 10-run loss, then scored a 10-run win in the first
two days of the tournament, losing to San Angelo Northern, 10-0, on Northern's
home field Friday before bouncing back to defeat Ballinger 14-4, on Saturday
in the elimination round. Sunday afternoon, the Little Leaguers stayed
alive with an 11-9 victory over North Concho, to advance to the 4 p.m.
elimination round game against either Wall or San Angelo Western, scheduled
for the Western Little League complex.
Northern and Lake View are the other teams still alive in the 9-10 year
old tournament. For Pecos to advance to the section round, they'll have
to win four games in four days this week, including a pair of 1 p.m. games
this coming Saturday and Sunday.
Pecos 11-12 year old Little League All-Stars won't begin their tournament
play until this Saturday. They'll face either Wall or Ballinger in a 5
p.m. game.
