Card, Matlock exchange

wedding vows in Midland

Jennifer Michelle Card and Michael Shawn Matlock, both of Midland were married at 6 p.m., Saturday, April 6, at the First Baptist Church in Midland with Rev. Ty Morris officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Bill and Martha Card of Pecos. She is the granddaughter of Floyd and Louise Morton of Anton and Jeanne Card of Fort Stockton.

The groom is the son of Rick and Cheryl Matlock of Midland. He is the grandson of Virginia Akin of Lovington, N.M., Nell Matlock-Clay of Hobbs, N.M. and Joe Matlock of Kingsland.

After a wedding trip to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, the couple is at home in Midland.

Saenz inducted into TFPA Hall of Fame

Oscar Saenz of Pecos was recently inducted into the Texas Food Processors Association (TFPA) Hall of Fame at the association's 25th Annual Meeting at the San Luis Resort in Galveston.

TFPA Executive cited Saenz for his 30 plus years in the food industry. Most of those years were spent in Texas with some assignments in South America.

He was born and raised in Duvall County, and attended schools in Premont, Tx. After high school graduation, he went on to Texas A&M University, graduating in 1961 with a degree in Dairy Science. After six years in the U.S. Marine Corps, Saenz went to work for the Quaker including five years in the Wolf Brand Chili plant in Corsicana.

He was director of operations for State Fair Foods in Dallas. For the past 11 years he was Director of Plant Services for Anchor Foods in Pecos. Oscar is currently a consultant for Surebeam Corp. in Brazil.

He served on the Board of Directors of the TFPA for five years, in addition to serving one-year terms as vice president and president. He is an active member of the Pecos community and was Pecos Citizen of the Year in 1997.

He has been married to his high school sweetheart, Mary, for 38 years. They have two daughters and one son, and three grandchildren.
