Scott Akers has been named Correctional Officer of the Month for March at the Reeves County Detention Center II.

Akers is married and is the proud father of one child. His past-time activities include hunting, softball and golf.

Officer Akers began his career with the Reeves County Detention Center on Sept. 25, 2000. He was promoted on Sept. 15, 2001, to his current rank of Correctional Officer II.

Akers is a veteran officer who has proven himself to be both extremely reliable and professional. His work ethics and attitude are of the highest level and he is a prime example of the officer's employed at Reeves County Detention Center.

He has stepped forward as a veteran and helped to train and mentor the new officers hired at the facility, according to RCDC Warden Rudy Franco.

"Officer Akers has worked all pertinent posts and is dedicated to the operation of the Reeves County Detention Center. He is always willingly accepts additional responsibilities and accomplishes all assigned tasks in minimal time with exceptional results.

As a Correctional Officer, Akers' primary responsibility is to maintain security and control of the institution. "Officer Akers has continuously executed this responsibility in the highest professional manner, and has always taken pride as an officer of the Reeves County Detention Center," said Franco.

The Reeves County Detention Center is proud to recognize Correctional Officer II Scott Akers as Correctional Officer of the Month.

"His high standards, quality of work performance, and self-motivation have earned him this honor," said Franco. "It is a pleasure to be associated with an individual such as officer Akers, who exhibits such professionalism," he said.

"We wish him continued success in his career with the Reeves County Detention Center," said Franco.
