Youth help Christmas for Kids program
As part of their citizenship component, several WIA youth participated
in the Christmas for Kids fundraiser sponsored by the Reeves County Sheriff's
Department.
The youth were stationed at 7th and Eddy streets accepting
donations from local citizens.
Sophia Baeza, director of the fundraiser, reports that the entire project
raised about $1,700. All donations to Christmas for Kids go towards providing
warm clothing, food baskets and even medications for families in the Reeves
County area.
The WIA Youth program offers a variety of services to local youth who
qualify. Different activities such as employment, tutoring, guidance counseling,
citizenship skills and leadership development are just some of the benefits
of the program.
For more information on the program, contact John Garza at: Pecos Workforce
