Franco is winner of Cutest Baby Contest

Taylor Renee Franco was the winner of the annual Cutest Baby Contest held in Monahans recently.

The Cutest Baby Contest is held annually through Alco for newborns to two year olds. It is a penny a vote and all proceeds go to a local charity.

There were 29 entries in this year's contest.

Taylor was the winner this year with a total of $118.79. All proceeds will go to Ward County Senior Citizens.

Her picture along with other babies and their totals is hanging in the store and she will receive a $25 gift certificate.

Taylor is the daughter of Trey D. Franco and Cecilia B. Rodriguez of Monahans.

Maternal grandparents are Charles and Gloria Waight of Midland and the late Panfilo M. Rodriguez of Pecos.

Paternal grandparents are Elias "Pe-Paw" and Lana "Me-Maw" Franco of Monahans.

Maternal great-grandparents, Agapito and Beatrice Montoya of Pecos, Socorro M. Rodriguez of Pecos, Charlotte Waight of Rogers, Tx.

Paternal great-grandparents are the late Crispin and Ysidra Franco of Barstow and Jack and Laverne Warden of Monahans.

Lujan attends  modeling show

Ericka Lujan, of Pecos, was in Dallas for the Model Search America 2001 event, which was held on Nov. 8-10.

About 40 of the top modeling agencies were there and the participants had a chance to showcase their talents on the runway and meet with the agents and professional people in the industry.

Nancy Lujan, of Pecos, has worked with Ericka since she was seven years old and has helped her with her fashion show events and photography which eventually led her to be selected to participate in this event.

Elementary school plans presentation

Bessie Haynes Elementary School will be having a special presentation titled, "Shh! We're Writing the Constitution," at 2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 19, in the school cafeteria.

Parents and community members are invited to attend and join the school students as they celebrate the nation's history.
