Ornelas selected to model in Toys-R-Us contest

Joshua Paul Ornelas, son of Patricia and Gilbert Herrera, Jr., was selected among 200 contestants in the Toys-R-Us modeling contest, held last month.

Ornelas and 15 others were selected to model the new chain of Nike clothing, both for boys and girls. He modeled six different outfits. He was the spoke model for the boys.

Ornelas will be helping with next year's fashion show for Toys-R-Us of Midland.

He resides in Pecos at 1809 S. Hackberry and has two brothers, Jonathan Robert, 10 and Ryan Patrick, two-years-old and one sister, Cassandra Danielle, 7.

Ornelas, age 12, attends Zavala Junior High, 6th grade and participates in football and the school band.

He attends CCD classes at Santa Rosa Catholic Church, loves sports and helping others.

This summer he volunteered over 60 hours at Bynum School where his grandmother, Elva Gomer is a Special Education Teacher.

Grandparents are Jim and Elva Gomer of Midland and Henry Sais of Pecos.

Great-grandparents are Angela and Mike Lara and Santiago and Elosia Sais.
 

Jones, Lindley announce November wedding plans

Dr. Phillip A. Jones of New Orleans, La. is pleased to announce the engagement of his daughter, Stephanie Renee Jones of New Orleans, to Courtney Lee Lindley of Fort Worth. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Lindley of Pecos and Mr. and Mrs. Ron Junge of Grapevine.

He is the grandson of the late Dr. and Mrs. Harold Lindley of Pecos.

Miss Jones is also the daughter of the late Dr. Linda C. Jones.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Robert Jones. She received her bachelor of business administration in marketing from Texas Christian University where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She is employed by Kaplan Inc.

The prospective groom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Barker. He received his bachelor of business administration in finance from Texas Christian University where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He is employed by Radio Shack.

The couple plan to marry at 6 p.m., Nov. 24, at Robert Carr Chapel. A reception will follow at Shady Oaks Country Club.
 

Plate sale planned to fund surgery

An Enchilada Plate benefit fundraiser will be held beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday at Saragosa Hall.

Plates will be $3.50 and to order individuals can call 445-5225.

The fundraiser is being held to help with medical expenses for a second heart surgery for Esperanza Evaro Fuentes, the one-year-old granddaughter of Camilo and Anita Evaro.
