Owens graduates from Army College

Army National Guard Col. Darren G. Owens has graduated from the U.S. Army War College at Carlisle Barracks, Carlisle, Pa.

The 12-month curriculum of the Army's senior officer school prepares officers of all the services, as well as civilian officials of the federal government, to serve in top-level command and staff positions with the U.S. armed forces throughout the world.

The graduate completed the Army's highest level of formal education with the mission of preparing selected leaders to assume strategic leadership responsibilities in military and national security organizations.

Owens, commander, is assigned to the 49th Armored Division, Dallas.

He is the son of Beatrice Owens of Pecos.

In 1969, Owens graduated from Pecos High School, and in 1973, he received a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University, College Station.
