Gomez, Pina announce July wedding plans
Dan and Debbie Gomez, of Andrews, announce the engagement and forthcoming
marriage of their daughter, Daphne, of Andrews, to Christian Pina, of Big
Spring.
The bride-elect is a 1996 graduate of Andrews High School. She received
her associate degree in Business Administration from Odessa College in 2000
and is currently employed as Manager for Beall's in Artesia, N.M. Paternal
grandmother is Maria Dawson of Pecos.
The prospective groom is the son of Juan and Leticia Pina of Big Spring.
He is a 1998 graduate of Big Spring High School and received his associate
degree in Computer Science from Howard College in 2001. He is currently employed
as a sales associate for Beall's in Carlsbad, N.M.
The couple will marry at 2 p.m., July 7, at Calvary Baptist Church in
Andrews. They plan to reside in Carlsbad, N.M.
Sanchez graduates from Odessa High
DeeDra Ann Sanchez graduated from Odessa High School on May 25.
She plans to attend college in the fall.
She is the daughter of Lawrence Avila of Odessa and Belinda Dominguez
of Pecos.
Grandparents are Benny and Gloria Avila and Mary and Frank Ornelas of
Barstow.
Pageants seeking entries
The Texas United States Pageants are still accepting applications for
entries. The Texas United States Pageants are a statewide event that honors
the state's loveliest ladies and sends the Texas representatives to the Ms.
United States, Miss Teen United States and Miss Teenage United States competitions.
According to Tracy Cris, Executive Director, "We have had a number of inquiries
from ladies in the area, but, as of today, no one has followed through."
There is still time for a contestant to step forward, but she will need
to act quickly. "I must have the completed application in hand no later than
July 15," said Cris. Contestants will have time to prepare, since the pageant
does not begin until Aug. 10.
Teenage delegates must be between 13 and 16, never married, never given
birth and a resident of Texas. Teen delegates must be between 17 and 19,
never married, never given birth and a resident of Texas. Ms. delegates must
be between 20 and 39, not married and a resident of Texas.
The two-day event, hosted in Southlake, Aug. 10-11, culminates the selection
for Ms. Texas United States, Miss Teen Texas United States and Miss Teenage
Texas United States. Ladies interested are urged to contact Tracy Crist at
