Golden Girl Nominee
Cassie Foster
Cassie Foster is the 17-year-old daughter of Lynn and Judy Foster and
Henry and Cindy Bagley.
She is sponsored by Bryan's Nursery, Pecos EMS and the Reeves County Sheriff's
Posse.
Miss Foster has been a Pecos High School Drum Major, for the past two
years; a member of the student council for the past three years; a member
of the Pecos Varsity Ladies Golf Team for three years; National Honor Society,
Redeeming her senior year; Who's Who Among American High School Students
and the Reeves County Sheriff's Posse Sweetheart.
She enjoys playing golf, swimming and chatting on-line with other teens.
Miss Foster plans to obtain a business degree following high school graduation,
with a major in accounting from Texas Tech and plans to play golf in college.
"I loved my Grandpa Foster very much and even though he's no longer with
us, I feel his presence and love every day and know that win or lose, he
would be proud of me!," said Foster.
Fierro celebrates third birthday
Ydalis "the Princess" Fierro celebrated her third birthday on June 10,
with a party held in her honor at Maxey Park. Her birthdate is June 13.
Theme for the special event was Barbie.
Her favorite gifts were a Barbie pool and a Giddy Up Cow Girl Doll.
She is the daughter of Victor and Liz Fierro.
Maternal grandparents are Pablo and Elma Gonzales and the late Elisa Gonzales.
Paternal grandparents are Victor Fierro and Maria Fierro.
Rodriguez nets degree at A&M
Danette "Nettie" Rodriguez, daughter of Danny and Lisa Rodriguez, of Pecos,
graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station, on May 11.
She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies.
She will be teaching eighth grade math in Cy-Fair in Houston.
Poetry group offers special religious award
A $1,000 grand prize is being offered in a special religious poetry contest
sponsored by Friendly Poets Society, free to everyone. There are 28 prizes
in all, totaling more than $3,000.

. The deadline for entering is July 16.
Poems may be written on any subject, using any style, as long as there
is a spiritual inference. A typical poem might be a love poem, or nature
poem, one that inspires.
