District volleyball to open with road games for Eagles

The Pecos Eagles' volleyball team will start their 2001 season with a scrimmage at home and end it with a game on the road at San Elizario. In between, though, there will be a lot of homestands and road trips, including a streak that has Pecos playing all five of their District 2-4A home games over a two-week period in October.

The Eagles, who won the district title last season in a playoff against Clint, will go to the El Paso area for their first four 2-4A contests in the upcoming season, including their Sept. 18 opening against the Lions, then will be at home for five straight games in early October before closing out district play with their Oct. 20 trip to San Elizario.

Before district play opens, the Eagles will play four straight home matches, in dual meets with Fort Stockton and Marfa on Sept. 11 and then Kermit and Presidio on Sept. 18. Pecos' only other home matches will be when they host the Cantaloupe Classic Tournament on Aug. 24-25.
