PHS to honor athletes
at All-Sports Banquet
Dr. Mary Ann Weinacht of Sul Ross State University will be the
guest speark tonight, at the annual Pecos High School All-Sports Banquet,
which is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the new Pecos High School gym.
Ronnie Daniels will be the MC for the banquet, which is to honor
PHS students who participated in athlethis during the 2000-2001 school
year. Tickets are still available at the high school, along with Gibson True
Value, 810 Walthall St., and Dan's Music and Video, at Third and Cedar
streets. Tickets are $8 per person.
Pecos-Barstow-Toyah ISD Athletic Director Bubba Williams said
all-district athletes for the Eagles from the 2000-2001 school year will
be recognized at the banquet, and the Doc Lunday, Craig Woods,
Joe Shoemaker, Norma Matta and Joe Bob Kelton awards will also be
announced during the banquet.
`Tennis Carnival' set for Tuesday
for P-B-T students at PHS courts
A Tennis Carnival for Pecos-Barstow-Toyah students will be held
this coming Tuesday, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Pecos High School
tennis courts.
"It's open to kids of all ages," said PHS tennis coach Bernadette
Ornelas, and is similar to the ones staged in cooperatation with with U.S.
Tennis Association over the past few years.
"There will be some tennis games and there will be some music
there," Ornelas said, along with instruction in tennis fundamentals. There is
no charge for participating in the tennis carnival.
