Rayos celebrates fifth birthday
Aeon Justine Rayos recently celebrated her fifth birthday with a party
held in her honor.
The theme of the party was Princess Barbie.
Family and friends were served a barbecue lunch with punch and cake. Her
favorite gift was a butterfly Barbie given to her by her godmother, Lupe
Natividad.
Aeon is the daughter of Jacob Rayos of Pecos and Debra Avila of Odessa.
Maternal grandparents are Edward Avila of Odessa and Mary Helen Vasquez
of Pecos.
Paternal grandparents are Reymundo Rayos and Katy Rayos, both of Pecos.
OC presents scholarships
Odessa College recently presented $16,000 in scholarships to art students
from OC and Odessa and Permian high schools. The students, selected by OC
art faculty, were presented the scholarships during a reception for the 2001
Odessa College Art Students Exhibition.
Scholarships of $500 were awarded to OC students Chikwudi Maduekwe, Kristina
Mendez, Brent Overton, Joey Shockey, Bill Smith and Steven Williams.
Merit awards of $100 for outstanding work in the student exhibit were
presented to OC students Joseph Beavers, Michelle Ferrini, Ely Ganzer, Melody
Herring, Chad Lemen, Kristina Mendez, Brent Overton, Bill Smith, Steven Williams
and Chris Wilson.
Scholarships of $1,000 were presented to local high school students planning
to attend OC in the fall. The OHS recipients were Brissa Eaves, John Hoppins,
Nicole Nieman, Flash Rainey, Luisa Torres and Trinity Vigil.
Permian High School recipients were Sarah Broadstreet, Teika Dorethy,
Andrea Gallegos, Jarred Matthews, Angel Venegas and Michael Ybarra.
