Garcia assigned to deployment
PECOS, May 2, 2001 - Navy Seaman Jesus Garcia, son of Mr.and Mrs. Hilario
Garcia of Pecos, is halfway through a six-month deployment to the Mediterranean
Sea and Arabian Gulf while assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS
Nassau, home ported in Norfolk, Va.
During the deployment, Garcia's ship participated in "Spanish Phiblex,"
an exercise consisting of a series of amphibious landings with Spanish
naval forces. USS Nassau also participated in a live-fire training exercise
in Capo Teulada, Sardinia.
Additionally, Garcia's ship visited cities in Italy, Malta and Spain
