Seijas completes mechanical course
PECOS, April 30, 2001 - Navy Fireman Apprentice Herman J. Seijas, son of
Merced J. and Edel J. De La Garza, of Pecos, recently graduated from the
Gas Turbine Systems Technician Mechanical Course.
During the course at Navy Service School Command, Great Lakes, Ill.,
Seijas received training in the operation and maintenance of gas turbine
engines and support systems.
As a gas turbine systems technician in the Navy, Seijas will operate
and repair the jet engines used to propel a ship through the water. Seijas
also will work on main propulsion machinery, electrical and electronic
circuitry, and is now trained to perform administrative tasks related to
gas turbine propulsion system operation and maintenance.
Siejas is a 2000 graduate of Pecos High School and joined the Navy in
June 2000.
Chavez completes basic training
PECOS, April 30, 2001 - Air Force Airman Daniel A. Chavez has graduated
from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.
During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission,
organization, and customs and received special training in human relations.
In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward
an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
He is the son of Aurora Barrera of San Antonio and the grandson of Maria
Chavez of Pecos.
Chavez is a 1999 graduate of Pecos High School.
Class reunion planned
PECOS, April 30, 2001 - The Pecos High School of 1942 invites classmates
and friends to Open House from 2-4 p.m., on May 5.
The Open House will be held at the Swiss Clock Inn meeting room.
