Fuentes celebrates fifth birthday

PECOS, March 13, 2001 - Brittnie Breann Fuentes celebrated her fifth birthday at Maxey Park on March 11.

Theme of the party was "the Power Puff Girls," and the party was a success thanks to the help of her aunts, uncles and her grandpa Javier, who helped in preparing the chicken barbecue.

Brittnie enjoyed her birthday party with her family, friends, cousins and also out of town guests, her cousins from Alpine, Adrian, Aaron and aunt Elisa. Special guests included her half brother and sister, Eddie and Isabel Fuentes of Pecos.

Brittnie also enjoyed her cake, "Blossom" given to her by her godmother, Joann Rodriguez and also a Power Puff piñata given to her by her godmother, Estela Barron.

She received many gifts including toys and money from family and friends and her favorite gift was a fun act backpack given to her by her aunt Cindy Rodriguez and family.

Brittnie Breann was born on March 11, 1996 and is the daughter of Criselda Marie Arredondo.

Grandparents are Javier and Gloria Arredondo of Pecos.

Paternal grandparents are Santiago and Mary Fuentes.

Study club plans meeting

PECOS, March 13, 2001 - The Modern Study Club will meet at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 14, for a Texas Heritage Department program with Joyce Morton, Department Chairman, in charge. The meeting will be held in the Doris and J.R. Moorman home at 2008 Washington Street.

The thought-quote for the program is _ "Perseverence is not a long race; it is many short races one after another" _ Walter Elliot.

The program _ "A History of Texas as told by the Stars of the American Flag" will be presented by Mrs. Morton.

Roll call will be answered by giving the name of a song that has the word "Texas" in the title.

Project emphasis for this bi-monthly meeting is involvement in the General Federation of Women's Clubs' Community Improvement Program (CIP).

Lena Harpham and Juracy Ray will serve as hostesses for the gathering.
