OC to host educational performance

PECOS, February 23, 2001 - In celebration of Black History Month, the Odessa College Student Activities Center will host "Echoes of the Past," an educational performance featuring New York actor Maxine Maxwell in historical portrayals of noteworthy African and African-American women.
Maxwell will perform at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 27, at the Globe Theatre on the Odessa College campus. Admission is free and the general public is welcome.
"Echoes of the Past" weaves in and out of history to explore the turning points in the lives of five African and African-American women of remarkable strength and courage. Each character comes complete with a concise background narrative along with subtle costume pieces to set the stage. Maxwell's performance takes a look at what it has been like to be black and female over the last 150 years.
For more information, contact Odessa College student activities at 335-6403.
