Sanders' car featured in a newsletter recently

A former Pecos' resident's car was recently featured in a newsletter recently in Arlington.

Thomas Sanders' 1966 Mustang, which he and his son has been restoring was featured in the Trinity River Authority of Texas, in Arlington.

Adam Sanders, son of Thomas Sanders, Manager of TRA's Construction Services, purchased a 1966 Mustang for restoration more than two years ago. Father and son rebuilted the 289 V8 engine and a three speed standard transmission. The car color is 2000 Performance Red and the interior is all original Mustang black.

The car was originally purchased in 1966 at Texas Motor Ford in Ft. Worth as a graduation present for Kathryn Gardner when she graduated from Texas Christian University. Garner kept the original window sticker showing the new car price of $2,742.58.

Sanders now has the original window sticker matted and framed.

He was 14 years old when he and his father purchased the car in 1998 and is now nearly 17 years old. He is a junior at Trinity High School in Euless where he plays offensive guard on the football team. He is enrolled in the academic honors program and plans to major in Criminal Justice at Sam Houston State University when he graduates.

Thomas Sanders is the son of Clara Frazier of Pecos and Adam is her grandson.
