Car Wash planned by volunteers

The Pecos Volunteer Fire Department will be sponsoring a Car Wash, beginning at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 22, at the Central Fire Station, located on Cedar Street.

Cost will be $8 for small cars, $10 for large cars, vans will be $12 and trucks will be washed for $12.

Everyone is encouraged to come out and sponsor this event.

Rodriguez celebrates first birthday

Natalia Rodriguez celebrated her first birthday on July 8, with a swimming party held in her honor.

She was joined by family and friends and a 1st Birthday Bear.

She received toys and clothes.

Natalia is the daughter of Beatriz Rodriguez.

Maternal grandparents are Heriberto and Gloria Rodriguez.

Godparents are Sergio and Martha Ramirez.

Holland nets degree at WTAMU

Degrees were officially conferred on 476 West Texas A&M University graduates at the May commencement ceremonies.

Area graduates include, Leia T. Holland, who received a BA in Mass Communications-Broadcast Degree.

The University awarded master's degrees to 74 graduates and bachelor's degrees to 402 graduates.

Graduates with an overall grade point average of 3.50 or higher were recognized as honor graduates and were eligible to wear gold honor cords. The three levels of recognition are Cum Laude (3.50-3.74), Magna Cum Laude (3.75-3.89) and Summa Cum Laude (3.90-4.00).

Fourteen graduates received Summa Cum Laude honors. Twenty-five students gradauted with Magna Cum Laude honors, and 59 students graduated with Cum Laude honors.

The graduating class represented three countries, 8 states and 88 cities and towns in Texas.

Holland is the daughter of Walter and Judy Holland of Pecos.
