Golden Girl Nominee
PECOS, June 29, 2000 - JoAnn Wein is the 17 year old daughter of Charlie
and Raynell Wein.
She is sponsored by Valley Motors, Randy Reynolds, Atty. at Law, Waterworks,
and the Elliot Printing Co..
Miss Wein has been a member of the National Honor Society for one year,
a member of the varsity swim team for three years, has recieved Outstanding
Achievement Awards in AP Biology I and English II, made All-District in
Swimming and was a State Qualifier in Swimming.
She enjoys singing, swimming and spending time with her friends.
"I love animals, especially dogs. I love spending time with my friends.
I also enjoy anything involving other people."
Martinez named officer of month
PECOS, June 29, 2000 - Jason Martinez has been selected as Correctional
Officer of the month for June at the Reeves County Detention Center.
Martinez started his career as a Correctional Officer in May of 1999.
Since then he has gained the respect from his fellow officers as well as
inmates.
He deals with problems effectively, professionally, and in a timely
manner, according to Reeves County Detention Center Warden Rudy Franco.
"Martinez is a great asset to the Custody Department," said Franco.
"He is always ready and willing to help all staff, and has the ability
to learn in order to enhance his skills and knowledge," he said.
Martinez is deserving of this award for all his hard work and dependability,
according to Franco.
"We are extremely proud of his contributions to the institution and
wish him continued success in his career at the Reeves County Detention
Center," said Franco.
