GED Testing planned

GED Testing will be held at 5 p.m., June 5-6, at the Pecos High School.

For more information contact Pat Cobos or Eva Arriola, Pecos High School Counselors at 447-7229.

Merritt earns law degree

At commencement exercises on May 21, held at George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Mollie Elizabeth Merritt received a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from South Texas College of Law.

Miss Merritt is the daughter of Bill Merritt, a 1965 graduate of Pecos High School, and Debbie Merritt. They currently reside in Plano.

She is the granddaughter of Woody W. Merritt of Pecos.

Also in attendance at the ceremony was her sister, Melinda Merritt of Austin, grandparents Mr. and Mrs. W.F. Nutting of Dallas, her aunt, Elizabeth Fleming of Baton Rouge, and her cousin, Hillary Hinson of College Station.

Water exercises help seniors

One of the hottest trends for seniors is "all wet." Water-based exercise is a great way for older people to experience the benefits of working out without the impact associated with activities such as jogging or tennis.

Sports medicine experts at Baylor College of Medicine say the water provides a safe, effective medium for conditioning and toning. The types of exercise range from swimming and aerobics to strength and flexibility training. Whether the goal is to improve your health or simply add some activity to your life, the pool is a great place to start.
