Summer hours set at Fort Davis

Fort Davis National Historic Site announces its extended hours for summertime beginning Memorial Day, May 29, the park will be open from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. These hours will remain in effect through Labor Day, Sept. 4, 2000.

During the summer season, volunteers and park rangers dressed in 1880s, living history clothing will staff the restored buildings and occasionally perform mounted cavalry or small arms demonstrations. Children and school groups may enjoy participating in either the "Mystery of the Talking Walls" or other educational programs.

Two special events to mark on the calendar for this fall will be Saturday, Oct. 7 _ the annual Friends of Fort Davis NHS Festival, and Saturday, Nov. 11 _ "Retreat to Tattoo" evening tours.

Ramon places first in baby contest

Brittany Roxanne Ramon, won first place in the age two group, at the 2000 Midland-Odessa Baby USA Pageant held April 30, at the Holiday Inn in Odessa.

She is the daughter of J.R. and Roxanne Ramon of Odessa.

Grandparents are Tomas and Frances Orona of Pecos and Alvaro Sr. and Mary Ramon of Odessa.

Great-grandparents are Elva Galindo of Pecos, Manuel and Feliz Rodriguez of Alpine and the late Rafael and Guadalupe Ramon of Pecos.

Allgood, Arpe announce June wedding plans

Rex and Stacie Allgood, of Barstow, announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, DeAnda Dawn to Cody Seth Arpe, son of Billy and Tonya Arpe of Roscoe.

The bride to be is a 1999 graduate of Wink High School and is attending Howard College in Big Spring.

The future groom is a 1997 graduate of Roscoe High School, attended Texas A&M University and is currently employed at Texas Boll Weevil Eradication in Big Spring.

The couple will be wed at 6 p.m., June 10, at the First Christian Church in Pecos. All friends are invited to share in this celebration.

Spencer makes honors at Blinn

Blinn College has announced its academic honor students for the 2000 spring semester from is Bryan campuses.

Students from Reeves County making the list included Rebecca Spencer of Pecos.

The college recognizes those students who take a minimum of 12 college credit hours and earn a grade point average of 3.25 to 3.74 as Distinguished Students and those with at lest a 3.75 as President's Scholars.
