Study Club plans meeting

The Modern Study Club will meet at 3:30 p.m., on Wednesday, March 22, at the Calvary Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, for a Texas Heritage Department Program with Laura Teal, department chairman in charge.

Mrs. Teal will present the program, "Sam Houston _ Senator, Soldier, Teacher."

The thought-quote for the meeting is, "Of all my positions and stations in life, the one that gave me a higher feeling of dignity and self-satisfaction than any other was teaching school." Sam Houston.

Roll call is to be answered by naming a job or position held by Sam Houston.

The bi-monthly project emphasis for this meeting is the club's participation in Special Olympics.

Doris Moorman and Gretchen Luna will serve as hostesses for the gathering.

Club members, and also anyone in the community, interested in the club project concerning donations to the U.T.M.D. Anderson Cancer Research in Houston are reminded to get them in soon. The items can be packed as they come in so the job will be easier at the shipment deadline in early April.

Oden selected as employee of month

Patricia Oden is the recipient of the Employee of the Month award for January, at the Reeves County Detention Center.

Oden has been a correctional officer since May 4, 1998, and recently promoted to the position of Captain's Secretary.

During this rating period, Oden has proved to be a loyal, dependable and trustworthy employee, according to RCDC Warden Rudy Franco.

"Patricia has outstanding clerical office knowledge and experience, she is an asset to the daily operation of the custody department," said Franco. "She works extremely well with all departments," he said.

Oden is the proud mother of two children.

"We recognize Ms. Oden as an outstanding employee, her unique contribution and performance within the institution makes her deserving of this award," said Franco.

"We are very proud of Patricia and wish her continued success in her career with the Reeves County Detention Center," he said.
